Atmosphere-controlled cold rooms also aim to absorb gases such as carbon dioxide (CO 2 ) and ethylene (C 2 H 4 ) released from the products and accelerate the deterioration process of the products, reducing the oxygen (O 2 ) ratio to almost zero, and reducing the nitrogen content of fruits and vegetables that are planned to be stored for a long time . (N) is to increase the ratio. Apart from these processes, atmosphere-controlled cold rooms are no different from normal cold rooms or cold storage. Carbon dioxide scavenger , ethylene converter , oxygen absorbers and nitrogen generator are required in order to achieve the mentioned processes .

Descriptions of Equipment

Carbon Dioxide Scavenger

The activated charcoal contained in the carbon dioxide trap absorbs the carbon dioxide molecules. After the air passed through the activated charcoal is purified from carbon dioxide, it is sent back to the cold storage. Thus, carbon dioxide is effectively removed from the cold storage.

Ethylene Converter

The ethylene converter consists of two columns, each with a heat storer, a catalytic converter, heating elements and a fan. The cold storage air in each column is alternately directed upwards and heated. The heated air is sent to the catalytic converter where the ethylene gas is broken down. Finally, the air sent to the catalytic converter in the second column is separated from the small amount of ethylene remaining in it and cooled again and injected into the cold storage. Thus, the amount of ethylene in the environment can be reduced to one billionth (0.0000001) without the use of chemicals, so the process is environmentally friendly.
